How casino free spins work, and what our free spins rows say

As of 14 October 2026, most of what our free spins category holds is slot rows from one operator, Melbet. Each row names a slot and lists a spin count, a wagering multiple on the winnings, and a price. We print none of those figures here; they are on the row. When the rows first appeared, on 4 October, they carried none of it.

Until today this page said the category held one promotion and it was not spins on a slot. That stopped being true on 4 October, when Melbet's slot rows entered the category, and the correction is at the foot of the page. What happened in between is more useful, and more annoying, than what it replaced.

How free spins work

Short version. Typically an operator gives you a fixed number of spins on a named slot. You do not pay for each spin, and the bet size per spin is usually set by the operator, not by you. The operator's terms say which.

The part that matters is what happens to the winnings. In the usual arrangement they are not cash. They land as bonus money, and bonus money comes with a wagering requirement: a multiple of the amount you must stake before the balance can be withdrawn. The deadline to use the spins, the deadline to clear the wagering, the countries the offer is open to, the slots that count. All of it lives in the operator's terms and changes without notice. That is why we do not print any of it here. Our piece on what we can tell you about wagering requirements covers why the multiplier, not the spin count, is the number to read first.

Two shapes cover almost everything. Spins attached to a deposit, usually as part of a welcome package. And spins on a named slot with no package around them. Whether a given spin offer needs a deposit is one of the first things to find out, and, as the next section shows, it is a thing our rows often cannot tell you.

What the free spins tag holds, as of 14 October 2026

The category page is built from rows our collector tagged free spins. Here is what is under the tag in the feed we serve, as of 14 October 2026. The Pin-Up rows change as its campaigns start and end.

Most of it is Melbet. The rows are titled "Casino", then a slot, then the studio in brackets. Hot Cash: Hold 'n' Link, Luck of Tiger, Elephant's Gold, Dragon's Hoard, Triple Fortune and Carnival Cat are among them, from the studios Netgame and Manna Play. Each slot is listed twice, as two rows with the same title. The description is one line, "Free spins in" the slot "from" the studio, followed by a spin count and a listed price.

Now what the rows carry. Each lists a spin count, a wagering multiple on the winnings, and a price (the row does not say what it is paid in). We do not print those figures here: they are on the row, and the operator's own page is where to confirm them. Our rows still say nothing about the value of a spin, a minimum deposit, an end date or an amount of bonus money. It was not always so. On 4 October these rows held a title and one line of description and none of the terms; the spin count, price and conditions were in the data behind Melbet's promotions page, as we captured it on 14 October 2026, and we had not kept them. That was a gap in our rows, not in the offer, and we have since changed our collector to keep them. The address our collector stores for each row is the slot's own game page on the operator's site. Two titles, each listed twice, also end in a stray letter, "Comboo" and "Comboe", where the description spells the word "Combo". The stray letter is in Melbet's own data for those items; we keep the title as the operator wrote it.

So what are these? Going by that capture, they are items in a list on Melbet's promotions page, the same list that holds the wheel of fortune item described below. A price suggests the kind of in-account shop described in the same promotion, under three brand names, but that is our reading, and the label "promo shop price" on our rows is the same reading: we have not worked out how a reader would obtain one or whether it needs an account, and we read the data behind the page, not the page. Read each of our slot rows as a summary of an item, not as the offer itself. The operator's own page is where the spin count, the price and the conditions are confirmed.

The rest of what the page shows is Pin-Up. Its Gift Box, which we describe here, is not a batch of spins on a slot. The operator's description says a fixed amount of betting turnover earns one gift box, and a box is guaranteed to hold a reward: money, bonuses, or free spins. Spins are one possible prize, not the offer. The turnover threshold is quoted in euros, which is not the local currency of any country this site covers.

There are also rows we hold under the tag and do not show: wheel of fortune items on 1xBet, Melbet and BetWinner with the same address path on each. The same promotion, under three brand names explains why that kind of row is excluded. They are in the data. They are not on the page. The Melbet slot rows come from the same list on Melbet's promotions page, and our exclusion does not cover them.

Where the spin counts are

As of 14 October 2026, in our rows they mostly sit in welcome packages and in one deposit ladder, with the occasional short campaign row, and our category tag does not point you at them. Search our rows for the word spin and a different set turns up.

Pin-Up's casino welcome title pairs a ceiling with a spin count for the first deposit. 1xBet, Melbet and BetWinner each have a welcome package row that puts a ceiling and a spin count in one line. Marathonbet has two welcome rows that put spins next to a deposit match, one of them over the first several deposits; both were last collected on 3 October 2026, so they are older than the rest.

Note what our rows leave unjoined. Melbet's package row gives a spin count and no slot. Melbet's slot rows give a slot and a spin count each. Nothing in our rows says the package spins are spins on those slots, or that they are not; in the data we captured they are separate entries, and we have not worked out how they relate.

One catch in the 1xBet, Melbet and BetWinner package rows. As of 14 October 2026, the ceiling is quoted in Armenian dram. Not manat, not tenge, not soum. Our collector records what the page printed, so the currency in our row is whatever that was, and it is not the local currency of any country this site covers. Whether the operator shows something different on its own page, we have not checked. Same kind of gap the fields we leave empty found elsewhere.

Mostbet writes its spins as "FS", so a search for the word spin misses them. We hold no first-deposit row. The rows we collected are a deposit ladder that starts at the second deposit, every rung titled either "Casino" or "Sport", and rungs on both sides carry spins. Parimatch has no row we collected that mentions spins. If it runs a free spins offer, it is not in what we collected.

An operator that shows its working

Melstroy is the odd one, and worth reading closely. Its rows break the welcome package into deposit steps, and the descriptions name a slot for each step's spins. One is The Dog House Megaways. Another is Big Bass Bonanza. A third is Zeus vs Hades – Gods of War. Same package, different slot every time you deposit.

As of 14 October 2026 its rows are, apart from Melbet's slot rows, the only spin-bearing rows we hold that state a wagering requirement, and they state two: one for the bonus money and a separate one labelled for the free spins. We do not print either here. That is the thing a reader should take from this post. The spins and the money are not governed by the same number.

Melstroy's rows carry no market tag, so we cannot say which markets it is open to. And the package row prints an end date that has already passed. Our page flags that. The row was still being collected on 14 October 2026; we have not read the operator's page ourselves. A date that has gone by does not tell you the offer is dead, and an offer that is still shown does not tell you the date was wrong. Only the operator can say.

How to use this

  1. Treat one of our slot rows as a summary, not the offer. On the operator's own page, confirm the item's spin count, its price and its conditions, and read what it asks of you.
  2. Look for three things before the spin count: which slot, what the winnings turn into, and what multiple applies to them.
  3. Find out whether the spins need a deposit. If a package splits across several deposits, find out whether the spins come in one batch or in instalments. Melstroy's rows show the instalment kind.
  4. Check the currency printed against the one you would deposit in.
  5. For package spin counts, see welcome bonuses; Mostbet's ladder sits on its own operator page. As of 14 October 2026, our free spins page shows the Melbet slot rows described above. Treat any tag, ours included, as a way to find a row and not as a description of it.

Terms vary by operator and change without notice, so T&Cs apply to every offer named here. This page is information, not advice, and nothing on it suggests you will win. You must be 18 or over to gamble, 21 or over in Kazakhstan. If gambling stops being fun, stop, and see our responsible gambling page.

Corrected on 14 October 2026. This post, as published on 3 October and updated on 7 October, said our free spins category held one promotion, Pin-Up's Gift Box, and told readers to use the welcome bonuses page instead of the free spins page. That was true of the catalogue we read on 29 September. From 4 October the category also held slot rows from Melbet. They are items from a list on Melbet's promotions page, each with a price, a spin count and conditions, and when they first appeared our rows had kept none of that. We did not re-read the category when we corrected this post on 7 October, so the claim stayed up for about ten days after it stopped being true. On 14 October we took the rows off the category page and out of the bot, changed our collector to keep the terms, and put them back, now listing a spin count, a wagering condition on the winnings and a price. The advice to skip the free spins page is withdrawn. The title, the excerpt, the FAQ and the search title and description were rewritten to match.

Corrected on 7 October 2026. This post first said Mostbet had no row mentioning spins. It does: its rows write them as "FS", which our search for the word spin missed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do casino free spins work?+

The operator gives you a set number of spins on a named slot, at a bet size the operator picks. You do not pay per spin. What the spins win is normally credited as bonus money that carries its own wagering requirement before it can be withdrawn. The slot, the spin value, the wagering and the deadline are all set in the operator's own terms. T&Cs apply.

Are free spins in a welcome package different from a free spins offer?+

Usually the spins in a package are tied to a deposit, one batch per deposit step, and sometimes each batch is locked to a different slot. A standalone free spins offer names the slot, and the operator's terms say whether a deposit is needed; our rows often do not say. Both are governed by the operator's own terms, not by anything on our page. T&Cs apply.

What do your free spins rows tell you?+

As of 14 October 2026, most of the rows under our free spins tag name a Melbet slot and its studio, and each lists a spin count, a wagering multiple on the winnings, and a price. We do not print the figures here; they are on the rows, and the operator's own page is where to confirm them. From 4 October to 14 October the same rows carried none of those terms. Elsewhere in our rows, spin counts mostly sit in welcome package rows and in one operator's deposit ladder. Read the operator's own page before you rely on any of it. T&Cs apply.
